Next, we head to Castel Gandolfo, a medieval town known for being the Pope’s Summer Residence since the 1600s. Perched on the Alban Hills with stunning views of Lake Albano, Castel Gandolfo is one of Italy’s most picturesque towns. Here, we will visit a mosaic workshop for a private class in mosaic decoration, an art form that dates back to ancient Roman times. Guided by an expert, you will create your own mosaic masterpiece, a unique souvenir from this rich tradition.
While your mosaic dries, we will explore Castel Gandolfo and the Pope’s palace. Open to the public for the first time in 400 years by Pope Francis, the Pontifical Palace offers a fascinating tour of the Pope’s private rooms and breathtaking views of the lake, Rome, the Apennines, and the ocean.
We will conclude the day with a traditional meal at a local restaurant, completing this immersive experience of art, history, and food in one of Italy’s most beautiful regions.
