The Roman Countryside

Driving  south-east of Rome, in only 30 minutes  we will reach the roman countryside known as the “Castelli Romani”, a  most popular residential area on the surroundings of Rome, known by tourists for its art, culture, food and beautiful landscapes. The Roman Castles sit on  a fertile volcanic area which has allowed since ancient times a flourishing agriculture and a great production of wines.

It was considered an ideal summer retreat by the Ancient Romans, later by the nobility of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, when Popes, Pope’s nephews and the aristocracy built many fabulous villas in the area, employing the same artists and architects who were working on major palaces and churches of  Rome.

These lovely towns offer a great selection of different ways to enjoy one of the best areas just outside the main capital: Frascati famous  for its  wines, Castel Gandolfo an attractive medieval town renowned all over the world for being the Summer Residence of the Popes, Ariccia and the porchetta an excellence on italian gastronomy, the marvellous Flower Festival in Genzano…..
